There’s a state that lives just beneath the surface — calm, open, vast like the ocean, the big blue sky, the still lake of the mind, reflective like the moon.

Science calls it Blue Mind:

This retreat is an invitation into that state — through yoga, meditation, rest, nature, and the powerful presence of the sea. And for those who feel curious or called: through the exploration of surfing.

THE PLACE

Tucked into lush hills just a short drive from the Atlantic, and close to some of the region’s best surf spots, this peaceful off-grid hideaway invites you to unwind from doing — and soften into being. Sleep in cozy tipis or guesthouse rooms, practice in a wooden yoga yurt or on an open-air platform, enjoy nourishing plant-based meals, and roam beneath wide-open skies — all in the heart of nature.

SURF AS PRACTICE

Surfing isn’t required — but it’s there if you’re curious.


Whether you’re a total beginner or already drawn to the waves, surfing becomes a teacher — offering lessons in presence, humility, and surrender.

It’s not about performance, but about connection. A chance to play, to be a beginner, to meet your edges with gentleness. In the stillness before a wave or the exhilaration of learning something new, we tap into the Blue Mind — and discover new ways to trust, release, and feel fully alive.

EXAMPLE SCHEDULE

  • Morning: Hatha Yoga, Pranayama & Meditation

  • Midday: Optional surf, journaling, solo time, or simply resting

  • Evening: Yin, Bhakti, or group reflection — depending on the vibe

  • Throughout the day: Nourishing plant-based meals, spacious time to rest, and walks in nature


Please note:

Yoga and surf may occasionally overlap, depending on tides and conditions — we adapt the schedule accordingly. When conditions are too big at the close-by beaches, we might have to drive about an hour south to find the best waves. This means the surf session, including travel, can take around 5 hours. On those days, you would miss one yoga class but will still have the option to join the other.​

 

Our Surf school will pick you up and drive to the beach. There is also an option to join the transfer for an additional cost (paid directly to the surf school), giving you the choice to surf or simply rest on the beach or back at the ecolodge.

All practices, including yoga and surfing, are optional. Whether you’re surfing, resting, or taking space for yourself, you’re always invited to choose what feels best for you.

 

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

  • Twice-daily yoga: Complete morning practice (asana, pranayama, and meditation), and more restful evening sessions such as Yin, Yoga Nidra, and Bhakti

  • Journaling prompts & reflection: gentle self-inquiry

  • Nature walks and spacious time to rest

  • Nourishing plant-based meals (three per day)

  • Intimate group size: maximum 14 participants

 

NOT INCLUDED:

  • Flight 

  • Airport transfer

  • Travel insurance (recommended)

  • Optional surf lessons (all levels welcome; not included in base price)

Chrissie Chung is a student and teacher of the Himalayan Tradition. She has been studying, practicing and sharing Yoga extensively for the last 10 years.

Her heart is firmly rooted in sharing the far-reaching potential of practice, using its various tools as a means to serve the individual in finding their own unique way to rediscover their truest essence.

She offers the richness of Yoga, Ayurveda and Tantra intertwined in a way that invites you to embrace your practice as a spiritual science. Move with purpose, breathe with wisdom and begin the journey of turning your attention inwards, returning to a state of Being that is inherently whole.

 

Expect deep practices that are woven together with philosophy, intelligent use of the breath, self study, contemplation & meditation.

Astrid Füllemann is a yoga teacher and practicioner who holds space for presence, honesty, and the full spectrum of being — from deep rest to intentional challenge.

Her practice is rooted in breath and embodied awareness, shaped by years of exploration in yoga, somatics, surfing, and music. She teaches with a sensitivity to rhythm, knowing when to soften and when to meet the edge, inviting students into a space where effort and ease can coexist.

 

Her love for the ocean and sound infuses her work with a sense of flow, spaciousness, and connection — always returning to what feels real and alive.
